Job Overview

AdvantEdge Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Pathology Coder for a full-time remote position. This role involves accurate and timely coding of all diagnoses and procedures for client charges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct client audits for charges, documentation needs, and denials
  • Provide coding services through a computer-assisted vendor
  • Perform CPT and ICD-10 coding for advanced medical specialties
  • Offer coding services to high-profile clients
  • Communicate with clients about coding questions or documentation needs
  • Investigate and resolve coding denials

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Pathology Coding (professional services)
  • Experience with TelCore billing system preferred
  • ICD-10 Certification required
  • AHIMA or AAPC certification required
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Some responsibilities include:

Quality and Compliance Management

Maintains current and accurate records through use of computers and/or other documentation in accordance with company standards and federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
Maintains knowledge of requirements of regulatory agencies, accrediting bodies, and third party payers.

All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least two years of post-secondary education in a clinical specialist or medical records program.
Current unencumbered license for the state of Ohio to practice as a Licenses Practical Nurse (LPN) a plus, but not required.
Certificate for OASIS Specialist-Clinical (COS-C) designation from the OASIS Certificate and Competency Board (OCCB) preferred.
Certification in ICD-10 diagnosis coding required or willing to obtain within six months of hire.

Experience

Two years of medical-surgical, medical records management, or healthcare billing experience.
Experience in a Medicare-certified home health agency preferred.
Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and the internet.

Other Requirements

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. Must be insurable under professional liability and crime coverage policies as specified by insurance carrier underwriting standards.

Due to ongoing steady growth to improve clinical documentation, Intermedix needs coders and auditors who want to work from home or in one of the Intermedix office locations throughout the country to include: Dallas, Mansfield, Jacksonville, Nashville, Oklahoma City, Columbus or Raleigh

General Requirements:
– PRN and Part time positions available. Hours vary depending on project scope and timeline. Week can be customized , 24/7, depending on your availability.
– Certification: AAPC, AHIMA, or (radiology coders only) RBMA as “RCC”. CPMA
– Live and work in the United States
– Have coding expertise in specific physician specialties, ASCs, hospitals, or ambulance services (please be sure to identify the specialties for which you have at least 3 years of single specialty experience and when and where you gained that experience. Note, the specialty experience must be within the last 5 years.)
– E&M coders can have 3 years of varied multi-specialty experience (i.e., single specialty experience not required)
– Pass Intermedix specialty-specific coding proficiency exam
